Making-over Cigarette Packs Helps Reduce Consumption
2008-12-01
Under British government’s proposal, cigarettes packaging is suggested to be substituted health warnings for manufacturing logos, which was in the attempt to retreat teenagers from cigarette smoking.
The advice was made under tobacco control measures consulted by A Department of Health (DoH). The discussion even went further to banning the sale of cigarette in packs of 10 and restricting vendor machines supplies, which are considered to frustrate young people’s accessibility to smoking.
The scheme came up with a series of measurements. Cigarette plain packs would be printed and regulated into a standard typeface, color and size. Specific or distinctive logos, colors, trademarks and graphics are inhibited. On the cover of the packaging only allows content and consumer information as well as health warnings.
The way of cigarette display in shops is also under the influence. The government supposes transparent windows for showing cigarette will intrigue youngsters’ attention and interest. In addition, posters or papers advertising cigarette will also hook adolescents’ curiosity.
If removing away from bright propaganda and eminent display could diminish the amount of cigarette population and save more innocent lives, why don’t we take up the campaign?
