Chinese is onto the road of plastic bag ban
2008-11-28
In order to reduce plastic bag application, Chinese is enforcing a ban on single-use plastic carrier bags on June 1st. Under the regulation, the production, sales and usage of "ultra-thin" bags less than 0.025mm thick will be forbidden, but shops are still allowed to sell thicker 'reusable' bags.
The ban was practiced to alternate people’s habits, Dong Jinshi aseerted, vice chairman of the China Plastics Proscessing Industry Association's (CPPIA) waste plastics recycling committee.
According to estimation from CPPIA, China horribly utilizes three million bags EACH DAY. UK retailers, however, come up with eight billion plastic and paper bags EACH YEAR.
The legislation has been proposed by David Tyson, chief executive of the Packaging and Films Association, that the effort to establish China’s environmental image for the Olympic Games in August can not be overlooked. Then came the wonderful and prompt ban which is expected to diminish the plastic bags waste by 6%.
